New Rider
A new rider riding lesson typically focuses on introducing beginners to the basics of horsemanship, including how to safely approach and handle your horse. Ollie will cover essential topics such as mounting, proper posture, basic commands, starting to walk the horse, and stopping. New riders will also learn about safety gear and handling techniques to build confidence and ensure a positive experience. The lesson aims to create a comfortable environment for new riders to develop their skills gradually while fostering a connection with their horse.
Returning to Riding
Returning to horse riding lessons can be an exciting yet nervous experience. It’s important to start slowly and gradually build your confidence and skills. Focus on refreshing your basics, practicing in a safe environment, and communicating with your horse. Remember to enjoy the process and celebrate your progress, no matter how small! Ollie will have a chat with you prior to the lesson to understand your needs and can create a tailored lesson plan.
Already Riding
If you’re already riding and looking to enhance your skills in your horse riding lessons, consider focusing on specific areas such as improving your posture, developing better communication with your horse through subtle cues, or tackling different riding styles like dressage or jumping. Regular practice, along with feedback from your instructor, will help you refine your technique and build a stronger bond with your horse. Remember to also ensure your safety gear is in good condition and always be aware of your surroundings while riding.
Cross Country
If you’re already riding and looking to improve your cross-country skills, focus on refining your balance and position over different types of terrain and obstacles. It’s crucial to develop a strong communication system with your horse, using subtle cues to guide them effectively. Practicing various jumps, such as ditches and water obstacles, can enhance your confidence and control. Additionally, consider working on your pacing to ensure you maintain a steady rhythm throughout the course. Regular feedback from a instructor can also help you identify areas for improvement.
